BBC News, by Staff Posted By: LittleHoodedMonk- Mon, 31 56 2017 08:56:31 GMT The US government has branded Venezuela´s President Nicolas Maduro “a dictator” and frozen any US assets, after he held a controversial poll to elect a constituent assembly. Under the sanctions, US firms and individuals are banned from doing business with Mr Maduro. The election on Sunday was marred by violence, with widespread protests and at least 10 people killed. President Maduro hailed the poll as a “vote for the revolution”. The opposition coalition, which boycotted the election, said 88% of voters had abstained. It has refused to recognise the election, and called for more protests later on Monday.
Washington Times, by Cheryl K. Chumley Posted By: KarenJ1- Mon, 31 19 2017 09:19:55 GMT Matt Drudge of Drudge Report fame didn’t take kindly to Sen. John McCain’s recent thumbs’down vote on Obamacare repeal. In a tweet that quickly amassed 5,500 or so likes, and near 2,800 retweets, Drudge simply wrote: “Corruption has so many faces …” The message was atop a photo of a McCain campaign photo that included the senator’s face and this text: “John McCain: Leading the fight to stop Obamacare.” Right. A picture says 1,000 words. But in this case, one suffices. And Drudge nailed it: Corruption. McCain, pure and simple, screwed Republicans, conservatives and President Donald Trump on Obamacare repeal.

The U.S. tested THAAD off the Alaskan coast on Sunday, two days after North Korea successfully fired an intercontinental ballistic missile with a range long enough to hit America´s mainland. Though the timing made it seem reactionary, the THAAD test had been planned months ahead. (Video) The video shows the American interceptor missile being fired off Kodiak, Alaska and then colliding with its target missile, which was dropped by a U.S. Air Force C-17 plane,
Circa News, by Kellan Howell Posted By: KarenJ1- Mon, 31 31 2017 09:31:32 GMT More than 40 House Democrats and Republicans have banded together to unveil a new plan that aims to fix the problems with the Affordable Care Act and prop up troubled insurance markets. Reps. Tom Reed (R’NY) and Josh Gottheimer (D’NJ) are spearheading the effort with the Problem Solvers Caucus and other moderate lawmakers from the New Democrat Coalition and the Republican centrist Tuesday Group. The plan calls for funding for Obamacare´s cost’sharing subsidies and bringing the payments under congressional oversight. New York Times, by Richard Pérez-Peña Posted By: LittleHoodedMonk- Mon, 31 38 2017 09:38:26 GMT Former Sheriff Joe Arpaio was convicted on Monday of defying a court order to stop rounding up immigrants, and he may face jail time — another rebuke for a once-popular politician who was voted out of office last year. In 24 years as sheriff of Maricopa County, Ariz., Mr. Arpaio built a national reputation for harsh conditions in his county jail, and for his campaign against undocumented immigrants; his deputies detained people solely based on a belief that they were in the country illegally, and then turn them over to immigration authorities for deportation. In December 2011, a federal district judge hearing a racial
